I’ve been thinking about wrapping my car for a while now, mainly because I’m getting pretty tired
of the paint. I’ve got a 2015 Ford Focus ST, and while I love the car, the factory paint has taken
a bit of a beating over the years. The clear coat has started to fade, and there are a few scuffs
here and there from parking in tight spots. I’ve tried a few touch-ups, but it's just not.
Here’s where I have dilemma: I want to wrap the car, but I don’t know where to start. I’ve done a
lot of reading online, watched some YouTube tutorials, and seen a lot of posts on Instagram about
it, but I still feel like there’s so much I don’t know. I’m leaning towards a matte black or
possibly a satin finish, but the more I research, the more questions pop up. Should I go DIY or
have a shop do it? If I try it myself, am I biting off more than I can chew? I’ve read some horror
stories where people have messed up their cars because they didn’t get the vinyl to lay down
properly or caused some bubbling issues. Honestly, I’m not sure if I have the patience for that.
Then there’s the whole issue of getting the right materials. I’ve seen some vinyl kits online, but
I have no idea how to tell if they’re high-quality or not. I don’t want to end up with something
that fades in six months or starts peeling off. Plus, I’ve heard that some vinyl is harder to apply
than others, especially if you don’t have the proper tools.
One thing I’m wondering is if I need to remove all the trim pieces and moldings before applying the
vinyl, or is there a way to wrap around them without having to disassemble too much? I’m thinking
it would be a huge pain to remove all the side mirrors and bumpers just for a vinyl job, but I’m
also not sure how much of a difference that would make in the final look.

I’m also wondering if anyone has any tips on caring for vinyl once it’s applied. I live in an area
where we get a lot of rain, and I’m a little concerned about the durability. Do you need to be
extra careful in harsh weather, or is vinyl pretty resilient?
